Buy online langoustines from a real traditional fishmonger!

The Smelly Alley Fish Company – langoustines, here's some ideas for serving them:


Uncooked frozen langoustines. There will be about 16 to the kg. Four is a generous serving, so a kg will serve four people. They are shell on and uncooked, and come from Scotland, where the cold waters mean that they are particularly full of flavour. They are always available, whereas the fresh ones might not be.  

Defrost them, then boil them for about 10 minutes. Don't expect a colour change, they will stay their attractive pink colour. Serve as they are, cold or warm, with some melted butter or plain or flavoured mayonnaise (for example garlic mayonnaise). To eat them pull the body away from the head, and pinch it so that you hear it crack. This makes it easy to pull the shell away, leaving the lovely tail, ready to dip into the melted butter or mayonnaise. Some people crack the claws and take out the claw meat, but most can't be bothered as there isn't a great quantity of meat as there would be in a crab.

Dublin Bay prawns? We haven't seen them for years. They were just the tail, shell-on, cooked as above, just a memory now, they were delicious!
